ALEXANDRIA BLACK

binc body baubles are power pieces; luxury accessories & heirloom jewelry with versatility. I take inspiration from my body of work & appreciation of art history, ethnology, color, textiles, fashion, couture, antiquities, design, travel, architecture & music. binc designs are also influenced by the ethos of nature & current events occurring in countries around the globe. This research as also in life is a continual journey. I’m an empathetic person & care deeply for others & all things natural. I work clean, source as sustainably & ethically as I'm able. I repurpose & reuse to create binc packaging in an effort to reduce waste. Each design is created & produced with astute attention to detail, love, & healing intentions.

The mediums I work with are derived from things both natural & repurposed. I love the hunt for byproducts like minerals of gemstones, crystals, & fine metals; supple leathers & feathers (left overs of consumerism); antique charms & pendants that I've collected from around the world; natural flower & plant oils; as well as vintage fabrics compiled mostly of luscious silks & intricately woven textiles.

I continue living out my dreams in one of the most exciting cities in the world! I'm inspired & thankful everyday.

I LOVE doing collaborations with musicians, photographers, makeup artists, influencers and beyond. We're available to design custom pieces tailored to your specific tastes, photo shoots, editorials, or television & moving picture needs.

More about my background, a native New Yorker I raised horses & loved hiking along the quiet beach shores & vast woodlands in upstate NY & MI. My indoor time was spent sewing & designing using cast-off upholstery textiles & leather skins from the local Herman Miller furniture factory in MI. I studied fine art, color, & art history at Aquinas College & Kendall School of Art & Design. My favorite medium was sculpting repurposed items. One thing that I enjoyed doing throughout my youth was collecting gemstones & crystals and learning about them & their energetic qualities and folklore healing purposes.

After college I relocated back to NY honing my craft and style while working my way up the fashion & beauty industries. I was fortunate to work in beauty, fashion, jewelry, interior, accessory & costume design, P.R., & as a stylist for editorials, photo shoots & film.

Being a creative director in beauty markets like Temptu allowed me to take risks & experiment with creative ideas like producing the ORIGINAL temporary, "Metallix" (metallic) body art.

My publicist position at an exclusive NYC, P.R. agency segued into producing & coordinating runway shows, as well as special events for Chanel, Cynthia Rowley, HBO & editorials like W, Harpers Bazaar, Time Out, Cosmopolitan, Vogue Girl & Teen People to name a few.

As an interior designer, I re-interpreted and renovated Cedarmere - The William Cullen Bryant House Museum, as well doing interiors at other mansions on the Gold Coast of LI, NY.

After launching binc, I embraced the role as a featured designer & other exclusive pop up markets around Manhattan, including opening The Market NYC in Soho; a forerunner in a now popularly accepted trend.
