This delicate ring is made of authentic, molded Birch Bark that was salvaged in the woods of the North East. The Bark is incorporated with Lambskin and wraps your finger like a second skin. Its supple, silky and delicate finish marks the highest-quality leather skin available in the marketplace. Ashley name meaning is "of the ash wood".
It can be worn natural or adorned with any number of elements: Swarovski crystals, studs, or a hand-molded white clay flower. I also have many antique trinkets and sequins if you want something even more unusual. The mix of hard and soft make for an exotic look and feel. Each piece is woven closed like a bustier with thin gauge, metal wire.
Each ring is a couture piece made to order and simple to do!

The Birch Bark is natural so it will vary in size and shape in places. Although the width is fairly fixed on most designs; the length of the wrap will vary greatly from piece to piece. When I cut and shape a piece for a design I go with the flow of the natural barks nooks and knots. Each piece is beautiful and individual to itself. No two rings will ever be repeated.

Over the past 18 years I've sourced my leather skins through the same supplier that inventories many influential fashion designers worldwide.
I was inspired to design this piece from growing up in nature, riding horses and hiking through the woods while taking in all of the beautiful things around me. These designs are evoked from leather horse saddles and bridles.
Every design is accompanied by a list. The list encompasses history, as well as scientific details, and the meta-physical healing qualities inherent to the metals, gems & beads on your piece. Inspiration for this and much of my work is generated from a respectful, ethnological appreciation of different cultures. Most influenced by the American Indian, African, Hispanic, Latin, Egyptian, Tibetan, South American and other Eastern societies. Primitive jewelry and tribes also influence my designs. I'm encouraged by music, architecture, nature and the ecosystems within. Enjoy studying artists, tiles, pottery, textiles, garments, artifacts, and colors. I love noticing the ornate details within ancient weaponry and armor. I am fortified by history of all genres. Always stimulated by foods and herbs from different lifestyles throughout the world.
One of my favorite things to do is to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the NYC with my amazing seven-year-old son. He now has a love and fondness for the museum experience

ASHLEY Birch Bark & Leather Ring
Please wear thoughtfully, the Birch and Leather Ring is a gentle, couture design made of natural bark with delicate edges that can be chipped or broken off. Once the Bark is reinforced, cured with the glue and the leather for two days they are bonded. They are malleable and strong. However it may not be the best accessory worn for a night of pillow fighting, drunken mud wrestling or long cable-knit sweaters. Avoid washing your hands, I have washed with one on a half a dozen times. It still fits and looks great, just more "broken in". Eventually your leather will "break-in" naturally and mold to your finger as all leather does. You will notice it more on the undercarriage of the piece. I have owned one, sold many, and friends who have them. If you follow the "how to care" instructions they can last a lifetime!
